XMD is a decent club, and for what its worth some of the XMD/Liverpool teams can compete well

Expect returning to be block from here and many larger clubs unless you have an in with the coach.

In my case, we are already BSC, I'm just looking for alternatives at an un under U12 level... the thought is - a possible better environment with good coaching, with a possibility of returning to BSC when it starts to matter more, like U13+

Yes those are all really good options!!!! FCGB just fyi is not though it’s total junk. Cannot understand how they run the soccer program at Bullis, that’s probably why their team is terrible. But Lions is SOLID, world class is really good, we know many happy families at Juventus. Can’t go wrong with any of those! Until st U14 or above you head back to potomac or bethesda of course 😂

P90 literally just started. Not even a full year right? You already consider them a placeholder?


Set a reminder to check on them in a few years- even if they have a successful start they will not last. I’ve been in the youth soccer game here for 15 plus years. Your child can attend any of these “academies” and develop wonderfully, but in terms of a long-term viability, was only Bethesda, Potomac and the top-tier of MSI. P90 will be tomorrow’s Brit Am, pivotal play, XMD, lol “Liverpool” and others.

There are many options in moco. You have world-class premier, Juventus, Lions soccer, FCBG, etc.

I've heard from some folks who had private and group training with MPSA's head coach and they said he was very good, obviously it's hearsay.

I would focus less on club and more on the right coach, development program and culture. I am a few years removed from youth soccer but my kid started at Bethesda while she was in elementary skills. She definitely developed fundamentals there but we left once she hit 6th grade and joined an MSI Classic team (the travel at !Bethesda was a bit much). After a year my daughter asked to go back to travel so we shopped around for another travel program. She was welcomed back to Bethesda but we ran into a coach at MSI who I liked. I did not know it at the time but he was also coaching the U18/19 team at McLean, which ended up winning the ECNL finals that year. That coach developed that team into arguably one of the best teams in the area by u16 and one that routinely beat the area ECNL teams in local tournaments. He coached them until the graduated although the team eventually left MSI before u17 to join a local ECNL team. Every player on that team who wanted to play college soccer is currently playing college soccer.

My point is that at the u12 level, there are some really great coaches unaffiliated with the big clubs. If they still do rankings, I would check those out. The best coach I met was a parent coach who played at a high level thru u14 at which pointed he handed his players off to several elite (ECNL/GA) teams who were more than happy to add those players to their respective teams because they were so well developed. One of those players is currently an All-SEC forward.

OP look into OBGC ( Olney )
They have rec and travel leagues. Travel plays in the EDP league primarily. Not huge rosters, not a large coach turnover, not toxic.
Distance is usually an hour ish away.
We’ve been really happy. DD gets good playing time. No one is on the bench the entire time of the mercy 5 mins at the end.
They practice mainly in Olney but also in Laytonia and MLK for turf.
