My 16 yo is about 5’7” and hasn’t gotten taller in a couple of years. His dad is over 6’; I am average woman height. He started puberty early and had a big growth spurt around 11-12 and now at 16 has chest hair, facial hair, etc. So maybe he’s done growing. But he isn’t bothered by his height.

What is a typical growth spurt? I think it’s around 8 inches in 2 years. If he did that then he should be close to done. Hopefully he gets one more inch!

When’s the last time his feet grew? Bodies typically stop growing two years after feet, so if you recently had to buy him new shoes then he could still be growing.

5’8” isn’t bad. Taller than most women. He’ll be fine!

If straight he has to date girls shorter than him unless he's got something going on - very good looking, sucessfull, very funny and nice . But at 5'8, most girls will be shorter.

5'8 is fine for a guy's height. I think of 5'10 as the height where height becones a complete non-issue. So 5'8 is still very close.

Im 5'2 so.never cared about height in boyfriends. One great love of mine was not much taller than me. And i was relatively pretty;and very picky. Looks in boyfriends mattered but not height (as long as taller than me).



It would make life so much better for him if he were at least 6’.

I’m sure it would be nice but only 15% of American men make it to 6’0. So as much as young woman may say they would only date a guy 6’0 or taller, many will be disappointed and lonely if they decide height is the single most important attribute that gives a person value.

My DS was a late bloomer but also has short genetics. He started his growth spurt at 14.5 and stopped a year later at 5’9”. Now he’s 16.5 and is a little over 5’10”. I would be surprised if he got any taller but who knows.

First, 5’8” is fine. Second, it’s possible he’ll get another inch or two but slowly.

Yeah, it really varies, so no one knows for sure!
My neighbor is very tall and said he was average in high school. Grew more than 3" in college. But maybe not... nutrition and sleep are the best efforts you can make at further growth and the rest is just what will be.

Depends on when he started puberty.

My DS started late (as did his dad). He was a bit over 5' at 14. Now at 20, he's a bit over 5'11". Stopped growing at 20, probably, but most of his friends stopped growing at 16/17.
