I tried to have the windows open yesterday but our house was too hot. The thermostat was reading at 80 degrees. We turned on the air and kept the house at 75. I hate the heat and going to sleep hot is the worse thing ever for me. I like a solid 68 to sleep but my husband would never allow it.

Yes, temp in the south bedroom is 78. House is from 1929 - nearly a 100 years old! And we do have some insulation that was placed by hand in some walls during a renovation, but not in the bedroom walls, sadly.

Can't open the windows because pollen is starting in the air and we can't let it accumulate in the house. I stripped the beds off their winter duvets.

Oh good, I'm not the only one. I turned it on today. It's a 3rd floor apartment with lousy cross-ventilation that gets stuffy quickly. It'll go back off later in the week but life is too short to be uncomfortable in my own home when there's a simple solution.

I too have a menopause den. It is exquisite. I’ve decorated the basement room with posters from Tiger Beat I got on EBay. It is cold and nostalgic and I love it!

I just opened the window. Not bad outside. No AC yet.

Mine was 72. My auto setting on the heat pump at 70-73 starts cooling if it goes above 73 and heats if house gets below 70.

That seems like very rigid thinking. Why not be comfortable? You can always reset it when the weather turns.

Yeah it’s not like switching requires running alternative ductwork and refueling appliances

It’s 2026. My thermostat knows my target temperature and uses whichever system makes sense.

No AC here yet.
