Jawando chased the cops out of schools. You can thank that idiot.

Shootings, stabbings, and assaults, oh my!

If you follow MoCo police and other local news platforms on social media, the entire feed highlights serious crime daily.

WTH is happening in MoCo?

And guns at schools?

This is outrageous.

No wonder mcps enrollment is down. Parents are scrambling to put their kids in a safe bubble away from whatever has happened to local demographics.

WTH is going on?

That's my Safeway and it was a 13 year old kid arrested for attempted murder

What are these people thinking? Jail isn't appropriate for a 13 year old kid. He needs hugs!

He'll get the hugs and maybe more in jail.

There’s been a ridiculous amount of violent crime in MoCo over the last week or so. Stabbings. Shootings.

A person was shot inside Giant in Germantown overnight.

A man was stabbed by a group of kids inside Wheaton Plaza last week.

Another man was found with stab wounds and gunshot wounds in Silver Spring last week.

Plus more incidents.

I know the police report data to a national database that includes demographics and I wish this info was easier to locate and analyze. I want to see ages and race/ethnicity along with immigration status. And FTR, I’m a liberal.

They only want you to care “about the science” and data transparency when it comports with a certain narrative. You should try researching SAT and test scores by demographic groups in local school districts, specifically MoCo. It’s like searching for classified info.

Are these by any chance numbers from the early months this year, when we were in the deep freeze for weeks with temps in the teens? And ice like cement? Of course car jackings were down - you had to bring a shovel and a pickaxe, and perform hard labor digging for four hours to pull off a car jacking! 🙄

Crime is down dramatically across the country over the past few years. Part of it is the return to normal after the peak of the covid years, but that's only part of it. Even compared to pre-covid years the country is much safer. That trend clearly predates the Trump administration, and many criminologists even suggest that it's the social spending from the Biden years that has helped, although I don't think there's any way to prove or disprove that. Criminologists, who have been studying this for years, still can't explain changes in trends very well. People guessing here aren't going to do any better.
