We have a good first aid kit…and a high tolerance for discomfort. No sensible shooz though

I have begun putting an emergency kit together for at home but need a smaller one at work too. I am not including guns at all but maybe I'll take a bat or mace.

All you need to go is gas in the car, cash and documents in one place, and a plan for meeting up if cell phones don't work. I have a small emergency kit in my car as well (foil blanket, first aid, tools) and sneakers at work.

We have water treatment gear but that's for staying, e.g. if utilities give out.

It's good to be prepared but you need to prepare for real scenarios, not movies or heroic fantasies. Survival is mostly about staying warm, dry, and clean.

Your DH is a bit nuts.
If it makes him feel better, do it to humor him. But no guns, no talking about it in front of kids, and be aware he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. He may be exhibiting signs of early dementia.

Former military- we have had a ‘plan’ most places we have lived and keep some supplies on hand in case of any emergency. Not thinking about any apocalyptic event but more of a week without power, etc. With DC and all the crazy AI and AI voice stuff we also have an emergency code word.

May want to rethink the Canadian border, too many missile silos up there.

He sounds crazy. He's the type you see on the news that kills his whole family because he thinks the end of times is coming.
