The US is presently going through much of its air defense capabilities, which will take years to replenish. The US is also clearly demonstrating its vulnerabilities to cheap drones, which China has a gazillion of. What the US is signaling is that there is no chance that the US will be willing or capable of helping to defend Taiwan. A war of choice with Iran has been a gift to China in every way. And regarding oil, China is happy to buy Russia's while they continue to dramatically increase their own domestic renewable energy industry.
I think what a lot of the “experts” have missed is China’s investment in EV, Solar, Batteries, etc are spinning out technology that is similar to what happened when the US did the moon landings.
Here are a few examples.
China has a lot of very sophisticated agricultural drones. The way land reform happened in China resulted in many small plots sometimes on elevated lands. So some families will get together and order drone spraying- pesticide, fertilizer, etc. but it is a patch work. The agricultural drones go to the area, assess the needs of each plot that has contracted for the service and spray fertilizer pesticide, whatever. They have thousands of drones and companies competing against each other for this business. These lead to huge innovation with the drones intelligence and payload capabilities.
Many Chinese cars have lidar and self drive capabilities in their mid range cars($10,000-$15,000) and up. Tesla said lidar was too expensive. China car manufacturers are in fierce competition to deliver better self driving cars.
China has placed exchangeable battery packs for semi trucks on major trucking routes. It takes 5 minutes to switch battery packs. The operational cost of an EV semi is much cheaper vs a diesel semi.
China has installed ultra-high voltage (UHV) electricity transmission lines reducing transmission and connecting the country to remote power generating areas. The 2,065-mile Changji-Guquan ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) line is China's longest and most powerful transmission line. At that distance the US send power generated from Grand Coulee Dam to NYC.
All of these things have military applications.

China is NOT happy to buy oil from Russia. They'll do it, but they're wary of Russia as they should be.

I thought the world was divided among the US, Russia and China. Iran is clearly in the Russia zone.
Not really. China is much more attached to the Middle East due to its dependence on Middle Eastern oil. Russia is a bit player in the Middle East -- they've got plenty of oil so it is of less importance to them.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:LOL at anyone who thinks that this administration has a “strategy”.
They don't even have concepts of a strategy.
