I love my siblings. My uncle was a terrible sibling to my dad for many reasons and I wish he had cut him off.

It’s been 5 years and the sibling still tries to find ways to strike. I most recently had to block them on VENMO. Who tries to harass someone on Venmo??? My sibling.

It is not funny, and I'm so sorry for you, but that made me laugh a little (in the same way that I laugh at my mom when she goes even crazier than I ever thought possible). Venmo harassment is a special brand of crazy, you have my sympathies.

Very sorry to hear about your situation. I've lost one sibling and one parent. Really wish I was physically closer to my remaining sib.

Don’t burn the bridge.

My sibling would probably tell the hospital “I told her not to drive after 5pm on a Saturday. That’s what she gets.” And would not come.

And even if they did come, fine, that’s just being a human if I had no one else.

I spend more time on vacations and holidays with my spouse nephews and nieces.
But I get real love from my nephews and nieces when I see them few times a year.
I concluded the saying “blood is thicker than water” must be true.

That saying actually means the exact opposite of what you think it does. The full version is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" -- there are bonds out there that are more important than biological family.

DH has a large family and his siblings are BSC. He didn’t have to cut them off because when he set very reasonable families they cut him off. About ten years later he cautiously resumed some relationship with one. That sibling separated from the others, and she and DH share a trauma bond. It’s been ok for him.

Well, first of all, stop being on DCUM telling people not to cut off family. As you see now, everyone's situation is different.
