Ha ha. We had to tell our staff to come into the conference room in person for our once monthly all office meeting.
I’m pretty laid back and only have one in-person meeting a week, despite all of us being in office 100% (I’d love to grant telework). The CEO wanted to meet each person and our team is small. What I don’t get is all the anxiety people have about in-person meetings now.
People also space themselves way out at the conference table. Like 2-3 chairs between each person.
I hate presenting at meetings, but the only way I got better was just doing it over and over.
I don't get this, tbh. Yes if I'm alone at my desk I can attempt to multitask during a meeting, but if being in person is so important (WFH is over at my employer), it's nicer to get up from my desk, walk around, and see humans. Doing virtual meetings with the people in your physical office is really stupid.
We're 100% in person but nearly all my meetings are virtual with people in the building. Employer got used to the higher productivity of WFH so we're all slammed, grabbing a bite during a meeting or booked back to back with no time to actually traverse the halls.
Basically we have the bad parts of being in person - commute, and random drop-ins when you're trying to work - with the always-on work culture of WFH. People are burning out. Management's solution was a pizza happy hour after 5 (lol, no thanks).

they are nuts. once I only required one staff member to be in the office for a three day thing. that is three day over whole year. Guy put in for vacation days last minute. Then I declined and he had some cray cray reason he absolutely had to attend that no person could say no to.
Around one year later he is bs'ing and we brought up a great place to visit. And dude was like yea my GF took me there my birthday once for three days. I look up his birthday and it is those three days. Dude was going to fake being WFH while away with GF vacation and then day before when I denied his WFH he had to last minute make up a emergency to take off vacation days.
Make up a reason to let that guy go

He said I have a happy hour going to at 7 pm and going to work in person same day is a lot for me to handle.
