First safe country; I.e., Brazil the country she got a visa for and travelled to.
And yet... they sent her to Cameroon. How come? Because they are racist, homophobic, and cruel.
That's an odd take for an amazing country.

Hopefully this person can get in touch with her for added protection.

She left Morocco after her family tried to kill her when they discovered she was gay. She arrived in the US in 2025 and requested asylum at the border like she is supposed to. She was detained for almost a year despite being a threat to no one and denied asylum, despite judge ruling that her life would be in danger if she returned to Morocco, where homosexuality is illegal. So instead she was sent to Cameroon, where homosexuality is also illegal.
What racist, misogynistic, homophobic bigots we have in this administration. The cruelty is absolutely the point. Anyone who supports the Trump administration has the blood of so many innocents on their hands .

Through a friend, she and her partner heard about the opportunity to get visas for Brazil and fly there with the aim of reaching the United States, where they had friends. From Brazil, she trekked through six countries for weeks to reach the U.S. border, where they asked for asylum.
That she went through 7 countries to get to the US means she was already safe from Morocco and was now an economic migrant.
Should have stayed in Brazil.
Does the US give people in her position, those who will be threatened or killed based on their religion, race, sexual orientation, political beliefs, etc-- an opportunity to apply for asylum elsewhere? Why don't we give someone in her position 30 days to find another country willing to give you asylum?
People “in her position” are economic migrants. Why didn’t she apply for asylum in Brazil?
Why did they send her to Cameroon?

Trump is a debased, debauched, deviant sadist. May he and everyone connected with Trump's DHS, TSA, and ICE burn forever in the fires of Hell.

This.
Yup. Perfectly safe, gay friendly country. You don’t get to choose your favorite asylum country. She never should have been let in.
+100
Why on earth didn't she stay in Brazil? We don't get to pick the country we'd like to move to. So sick of this sense of entitlement.
You are anti-American.
For a while you all said you were deporting the worst of the worst. It was a lie.
You said you only wanted to deport those who came illegally, not those who followed the rules. Lie.
Now you don't want anyone immigrating? Do you not believe in the American Dream? In the land of opportunity? Do you not think the US should try to shelter those who are persecuted in their countries dieg to their beliefs or sexual orientation? Do you share any American values at all?
I think we want the best and brightest
