OP is a miser with low standards. Life with such a person is going to suck no matter what, red flag. I know women who are miserable living with men like this, and they aren't poor, it's just their men don't care about QOL of their families and don't mind exposing them to the hardships that people work hard to overcome to not have to deal with for the sake of penny pinching. OP's future is either finding a person on the same page (dump this GF, because you won't be happy with her and will make her life miserable) or to stay single forever.

But do you get both guac and queso at chipotle? Dude, you need to move, girlfriend on not. You deserve to live in a place not infested with roaches.

This is real. We once got a roach infestation while we were out of town. Still don't know how it happened, but we came home and there were so many. It was awful. I actually did not feel like it was that hard to get rid of them (got an exterminator in immediately, the worst part was having to pull everything out of cabinets and certain closets so we could treat inside, and then leave everything out for a while) and we were roach free within about 5 days.

But it was traumatic. We went to a hotel that first night when we got home until we could get someone in the next day, but I still dreamt about roaches for months. We also had a cat and a toddler at the time, and it was stressful worrying about keeping them out of rooms that were being chemically treated, and then I was paranoid about my toddler encountering a roach on the floor for a long time before I finally accepted they were gone and relaxed.

Once you know how to prevent and get rid of them, it's not that hard. We treat all entrances with chemicals seasonally, and also put down diatomaceous earth. Haven't had an issue since.

Don't they die though if they are in an environment not ideal for their growth ie no hygiene and humidity issues.

Most houses, even those with excellent hygiene, still have enough food to sustain roaches and Tyrh multiply really fast. So the best way is to avoid introducing them in the first place. Once introduced, it takes time and a lot of effort to get rid of them, also because by time you start noticing them in your home, they have already multiplied.

2200 is not exactly low. That’s 20% of your take home. Is this a 1 bedroom apartment? You’re basically spending 20% of your take home on an apartment in a roach infested building. Did you look for other places? Is this close to your work? What would a nicer place cost?

I hate roaches, so I would absolutely look for a different place but that’s me. I also couldn’t stomach paying 2400 on about 100K for more than a year, every month I felt that I am just throwing out the money, and I was living in a very nice 1 bedroom in a new building in a great location. If I was also dealing with roaches, I would have probably bought even sooner.

I understand you may not be ready to jump into home ownership, but if you’re serious about your gf and you’ll be moving in together, then it makes sense to find a different place.

OP sounds like DH when I met him. DH also had high income and living in a sh***y place. When are single it's like they never evaluate their own quality of life as long as they happy with the financial numbers nothing else matters

There is a 2 years wait list to live here. Despite the roaches and perhaps the ethnic/demographic background of most tenants that some may have an issue with the place is a steal.

So I don't want to leave. Now recently I started recently and she hates coming to my place. She doesn't like the building, she doesn't like that from time to time it needs to be treated for roaches and I feel like at some point she may suggest we move in together or I find a better place.

Folks only paying $2200 rent on a take home pay of $11200 I won't move. And I am not even thinking about buying a house unless I get expelled from this place lol.

Would you move to a "nicer" place if your rent was this low.
