The NBF has already indicated privately that fiction writers who are overtly and publicly critical of Trump will not be welcome.

Is this true?

Yes, a friend who is a book publicist for a prize-winning novelist told me.

Unless it is some superstar author, book tours are self financed. DC has the airports for that, but not the hotels. If you want someone to come, try working with local libraries, schools, or book stores to see if they will come.

Ann Patchett was here with Ina Garten in 2024 at the Kennedy Center. No need to stop at P&P if you can sell out the Kennedy Center.

I posted because I happened to recently note that both of those authors, with anticipated soon releases, aren’t coming to this area. As I also said, I have noticed this other times as well (I’d say I notice it with some regularity), but I can’t cite others off the top of my head.

DP. Come back and name them when you remember. I’m genuinely curious because I don’t really see that.
