my family was like this - different kids/different schools/different reasons. sell that message, hype up the school and say you will think about your options when it is time to move schools. But I agree that it is weird a 1st grader is fixated on this, especially if this is the path of the older kid.

IME, working too hard to smooth over things like this make them a bigger deal than they are. You’ve explained it to her, I would not engage on the topic any more. When you treat it like it’s not a big deal, you are setting the tone that it’s not.
