If I were to add a LAC to this group, it might be Trinity (CT).

The Bucknell booster is great entertainment but Middlebury is the real deal for IB then onward. Very strong placement and getting stronger.

+1

My kid is headed to Midd with an interest in finance/business. Their resources are impressive.

I think most people agree with you, but it can be very hard to get one of the coveted internships out of a non-elite college. but not impossible! connections can work around this too

I think the 5 Claremont colleges are somewhere in the top 10 for vc startup alum, so I’d look into those schools. Then, Williams and Middlebury.

Sounds right. People don’t realize how much more helpful these top SLACs are compared to a Cornell or even a Penn.

VC is all about wealth and connections, so top LACs with wealthy student bodies (Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Colgate, etc.) are the way to go.

I had a VC boss once who looked at me with dead eyes when I recommended we hire a community college grad over a Harvard grad for a very entry level position. The CC grad was great and it would be a chance for her to get a start in a tough industry. We hired the girl from Harvard.

Applicants with a bachelor's degree may be preferred over those with an associate's degree in many hiring situations.

I know a few VC guys. Engineers, one MD. They started companies, got bought out and moved into VC. They could have retired on the buy out money but they enjoy the game. I'm not rich or connected enough to know PE people. Our vice president JD Vance ne Bowman was a VC guy. Fred Moll, someone I respect, hired JD for a bit. So who knows.
