I've seen people talking online about the ultrasonic cleaners - are they worth it? My teeth are prone to cavities (yes, I floss every day, brush multiple times per day) and I'm wondering if a deeper regular nightguard cleaning would help - I saw the ultrasonic cleaners, but wasn't sure what people's experience is.
I have a professionally made nightguard also and my dentist has advised to just wash with a very small amount of CLEAR antibacterial hand soap (the kind that comes in a pump dispenser, not a bar of soap) then shake of the water, put it back in the case (cases has some little holes for air.). Don’t brush it.
Once a week or so, soak it in a cleaner made specifically for nightguards or retainers. I use Retainer brite tablets, warm NOT hot water. Leave it set for 10 or 15 minutes, rinse, shake off excess water and put it away. Retainer Brite can be ordered directly from the company, but you have to call to place your order-it’s made in the USA.
