Are you talking about the meetings that took place before class selection with the 10-15 minute presentations? That the parents were emailed about? My kid is at Carson in 8th grade, he has not mentioned any additional meetings to discuss the school at school.
No I am not talking about that. I’m talking about students removed from class at Thoreau with no parental notification to be given a sales pitch about Skyview.
I love how everyone on this board is constantly trying to tell people things didn’t happen when they have no idea what they’re talking about
Weird that they are doing that. I wonder how many other schools they are doing it at.
They are probably at Thoreau for Oakton zoned kids but there are also Marshall zoned kids who live very close to Crossfield neighborhoods on Fox Mill rd.

Not only are you wrong about them not offering it to other high schools (as per this thread), but you are wrong about the whole point of opt-in. The school is opt-in because as a start up it is unable to offer the full slate of activities that many people want in high school, like sports and clubs that take a year or two to get off the ground. They made it opt in so as not to force kids to attend next year and miss out on those things. It has nothing to do with gauging interest. That is a fallacy pushed by people who are hoping to use the opt-in numbers to further their interests in where the boundary will be drawn.

I suggest you should look into Curriculum Program transfer https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/registration/transfer-information/high-school-curricular-program
You might apply for this program to attend desired school for unique curriculums they provide. Of course, I have no idea if Skyview is offering the aviation courses your son is interested in, or when they are going to publish aviation related curriculum for us to see, but this is the general approach I'd take for Marshall to Skyview transfer.

"We have almost hit our enrollment targets for students from the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes, and Westfield pyramids. We will now begin our rolling admissions process, which will include students within and outside of the five priority pyramids. These students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. "
It did not say how to go about doing this.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Does your son know they may not offer pilot training? I would ask that question, too.
