He got right that electric vehicles were the place to put $$. He got right that superchargers should be put all over the US. He got right that landing booster rockets so that they can be reused would make his company VERY profitable. He got right that self driving would be an important new technology. He got right that a system of satellites would provide communication anywhere in the world.

So his personal life is a shambles, but that doesn't really affect me. He has definitely made mistakes, yes. He's not a god. Anybody in his position is going to be criticized for good and bad all the time.

But I think we all know that the world is changing rapidly and many of us never would have guessed that we would have the computer capability that we have now. So who knows. He's allowed to dream and he dreams big. It's who he is.

This is not the craziest thing that one of these Silicon valleys tech people have said.

The media cannot have enough of them. And Everytime they open their mouths they make some of the most outlandish claims about the promises of AI.

In 2003 I asked my CS teacher why the compiler we were using only checks for syntactic errors but was not able to check for semantic errors.

My professor told me, in 20 years or so we will be able to write programs by using english language prompts. And he said at that point everything will be accelerated at a rapid pace.

At that time I was like wow. 20 years later we are very close.

So Elon is simply stating a fact that's already reality.

We talk among each other on this forum and most of us even the ones behind in retirement are doing well from a retirement standpoint.

Go on reddit, talk to people, it's scary. It's very difficult to envision how this country can function as a normal country beyond 2030 when we will start having massive waves of retirement, births becoming rare events, and immigration severely reduced.

People will have to live with family like in olden times.

And they won't live to their maximum lifespan because they won't have unlimited ability to spend on health care.
