Are you "discovering" the Kennedy's for the first time because of the Love Story show?

For those of us a certain age (I'm 50) Jackie, JFK Jr, Carolyn, to a much lesser extent Caroline were tabloid staples during my formative years in the 80s and 90s.

I grew up with all the books coming out on them, People magazine articles, tabloid stories, etc.

The intense interest died down after the plane crash and really died down after Teddy died.

Guess a whole new generation is discovering them now?

Same. It’s amusing to see young people discover the family.

Btw, OP - Naomi Watts looks nothing like Jackie O and was horribly miscast. From all accounts, she had a close relationship with John and Caroline. She did worry about his love life and disapproved of some of his shenanigans as well as his acting.

I was just thinking about Caroline today and why she got/gets so much less attention than her brother. I think the fact that she is kinda plain looking and not very glamorous kept the paparazzi away. She's likely quite grateful for that.

Her brother dated celebrities (Daryl Hannah was huge after Splash) and also did things like try to launch a magazine focused on celebs. He chased the celebrity life.

If he were alive today, he would no doubt be somehow involved in a streaming series and in podcasting and social media. He very much did things that put him in front of the public, while his sister did not.

JFK Jr. was the definition of reckless. He and his wife and her sister died because he was so entitled and reckless.

Case in point, when they were remodeling the children’s bedrooms in the White House both Caroline ➕ John John were staying w/relatives……Jackie had suggested that the children not come home until their bedrooms were completely finished which was still another few wks away.

A good Mother would have missed her kids & would have wanted them home no matter what.

Plus after Jackie gave birth to John via C-section, after she arrived home she had hired Nannies + nursemaids care for him so she could sleep a lot in order to recover……

Do you think the royals are good parents? There are days/weeks when they don’t see their kids cause they are out of the country or touring. I doubt they do the normal parenting stuff with the kids with nannies doing it. And at a certain age, the kids go away to boarding school.

If I had the money, I’d have done that.

More/good sleep enables good parenting.

Um, also she was FIRST LADY!! So she had lots of other responsibilities. You can hardly blame her.

(John was born two months before she became first lady.)

Ah, so her husband was in the middle of a presidential campaign. Loads of free time and no obligations! /sarcasm

Not trying to suggest that, just getting the dates right.

Agree that we can’t really know. I think it matters (as a PP stated) that she well may have had PTSD after JFK died plus she lost a baby.

Who can really know that?

She was a bit inscrutable as a person. She did a great job with those kids, and reports indicated that they were a close-knit group. But Jackie had a lot going on in her life ... I'm sure everything wasn't perfect.
