GPA is too low. Last year's class had a 4.33 at the 75th percentile, and a 4.14 at the median. Especially if applying for engineering or unhooked.

I know this is disappointing but if you look at their CDS, standardized testing is simply "considered" unlike GPA which is one of the most important categories along with rigor.
Are we saying that a 4.1 isn't a good GPA and because it's not higher the course rigor is weak? I'd say that if you graduated from a FCPS school with a 4.1 and a 1590, you most definitely could handle VT. I'm sorry to this family. These results are shocking!

Mine was waitlisted with excellent stats-- but they already had been appointed to a service academy before applying VT and intend to go. They only applied to VT in case of health emergency that precluded academy attendance, and it probably showed in their essays.
