+1

There are plenty of non-academic reasons a student might prefer one or the other of these two excellent schools.

I would pick Michigan. Atlanta is too hot. Michigan is a better all around university.

Both are great options. But if there's any chance the student might drop engineering, Michigan has a greater range of very solid back up majors. Otherwise, there is no wrong answer. Students seem very happy at both schools.

A Georgia Tech engineering degree, however, really does stand out on the resume. For engineering, there isn't much that tops it these days.

If your child is interested in automotive topics and or Motorsport then Michigan is a really strong choice

That makes sense. For those students who are out-of-state for both, Michigan's cost is a little more than $30k more than GT's cost.

Yeah, GT engineering is better and cheaper for OOS.

Georgia Tech is extremely well regarded Nationally as well as Internationally. Vast majory of the students there are from OOS and International.

Georgia Tech is 9% residing in foreign countries (8% non-US resident/citizen), 30% out of state, 61% in state
Michigan is 4% residing in foreign countries (8% non-US resident/citizen), 43% out of state, 52% in state
