From what we've heard this year has been a blood bath especially for the SS schools. We spoke to both a PSD and consultant, both said the outcomes this year were unpredictable.

You say you're overall happy-- didn't you end up at your first choice? Or am I misunderstanding?
And "only" had one TT offer and one 2T offer. If you can only enroll in one school and you get your first choice, does it matter that you get no more offers? Maybe I'm reading too much into the "overall" and "only" in your post.
We're going through the process next year and if I only get one offer from my top choice school, I'd be drinking champagne.
Because now she can’t brag that she got 4 TT offers. Poor her. She only got into one TT, first choice at that, and one 2T! How can she simply be happy?!
Between this one and the one that decided she would put a deposit at 3 schools while working the waitlist for her 1st choice I don’t know.

She said boy, so deducing it is Collegiate.
Can’t be Collegiate. She said their first choice wasn’t Dalton, Trinity, or SS (single-sex). That leaves HM.

I think my kid is easy going. He is introverted but not necessarily shy. He can talk to adults. From an early age I encouraged asking questions and problem solving instead of giving an answer. We read a lot (I like reading, personally). I always ask questions about what we read- what do you think the mouse is feeling in this picture? What do you think will happen next?! When they got older I asked him to tell me what the story was about, and I’d model to him and we’d do it together. I ask a lot of questions about his day, but specific ones because otherwise he won’t answer (eg what did you do during outdoor time? What did you do with xx teacher today?) - Get them talking! We did lots of playdates. When something would go wrong we’d talk about it later and sometimes with things that he struggled with we’d act out scenarios with toys to work through it. We draw together. We played random games to practice math skills.
Every kid is different though- my second is not like this so we’ll see how things work out with him!
No hooks. My husband and I both went to Ivy League+ schools but in NYC there’s a lot of people with good schools on their resume.

Oh we are very happy but like the other poster said it’s a rollercoaster. The school that accepted us was the last of our schools to notify so it was a real nail biter. And even in the last weeks as we “turned down” other schools by not giving them first choice we kept second guessing ourselves. You kind of fall in love with a few because you don’t know where things will work out in the end, so it’s also hard to accept after all the work, all the people you meet, all the enthusiasm that you shared — that suddenly you’re not actually going there!
I know exactly what you mean. There were so many things to love at each school. Every school you turn down means you are giving one experience up so there’s always that feeling of what if. It’s scary to think you are making such a big choice for your child snd family. Plus, you put in all this work, so much mental energy and stress…and suddenly it’s all over. We also got into our top choice but I still have so many mixed feelings about the past six months.
