I like having at least three or four that fit me each summer because my kids want to swim in our building's pool every day and I like switching up what I wear.

Yes I buy 3 every year for spring break and summer. Salt and chlorine do a number on swimsuits!

+1. We have a pool and beach house so my suits are used almost daily in summer months. The chlorine and salt water cause deterioration and sunscreen causes discoloration.

I find that buying swimwear separates allows me to mix and match various tops and bottoms for a variety of swimsuits to cover all occasions. My rotation of swimwear depends on what I find that suits my particular style at the time.

Yes, as a middle aged woman, I wear two-piece swimwear to my local pool, beach and friends pools. I also have a few vacation swim suits for special occasion wear.

Yes but I have a beach house. I didn’t before that.

Yeah, well, most people are not "in the water for several hours a day." That is not "repeated exposure to chlorine," that is extreme.

Yes, but I practically live in them in the summer and I like finding new ones. I can't imagine altering a bathing suit.

It would never occur to me to get alterations on a swimsuit.

Just get a new one.

Sounds like you are contemplating buying one new suit because of weight loss - same as if you needed to buy new pants. Not the same as getting new suits every year for fashion reasons. Go for it!

Oh, and I get into a body of water only about 1x a year (pool or ocean) so have had the same single suit for 5 years, but that's a topic for another thread.

Today's suits don't last like in the past and I've never heard of altering a swimsuit. Get a new one.

Buy yourself a new suit!

Altering swimwear is very difficult. And it likely won’t look right even when altered.
