Careful about above. You can’t always take classes in a school that has crowded majors. I have no idea about Vt business, so check. Many colleges have classes that give priority to majors.

OP - your kid can always take classes in business school and even minor in a business field like marketing etc.

Maybe its best of both worlds.. Natural Resources.. give it a try and then by second semester take the first course in business school.

one word of caution - start with the core business courses - eg Accounting, Corporate Finance, Marketing and Operations.

After that they can quickly expand to their areas of interest.

It's very easy to change majors at VT - just not if you're trying to switch *into* one of the impacted majors (engineering, business). If you start in one of those majors and want to switch out, it's not a problem at all. That's what my own DC did. Started in engineering, switched to a liberal arts degree.

I agree. It is one of the downsides of VT. Both my niece and nephew had changing interests after 1st year and felt "stuck" with major. Loved VT and stayed but neither are in careers related to the degree they obtained.
