The Superintendent's recommended plan is to move Wootton to Crown and then renovate Wootton as a holding school to hold students during renovations for other schools. After that's done, who knows, maybe enrollment will recover and they re-open the building?
The Superintendent also delivered a non-recommended plan to open Crown as a high school and keep Wootton as is.
We'll find out what the Board of Education decides in late March.

As with most school shootings, the perpetrator in this case was also a student. You can put all the security systems in place you want, if a student is determined to take action, they're going to know the blindspots -- they're there every day.
We need schools to focus on their culture and climate, reduce class sizes so teachers can actually get to know their students, and we need gun control.

He is starving the MCPS capital budget, first by giving tax breaks to developers so we have had to borrow more to build new schools when new housing is built and second by refusing to increase the county’s borrowing for capital projects. He has said nice things but he has made it impossible to fund repairs to the building.

In Maryland, juveniles aged 10 or older may be placed on electronic monitoring (ankle bracelets) for serious offenses, including crimes of violence, gun charges, carjacking, armed robbery, burglary, and sexual offenses.
As of July 2025, the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) mandates detention for any youth arrested while already on an ankle monitor.
Crimes and Situations Qualifying for Juvenile Ankle Monitors in MD:
1. Violent Crimes & Weapons Charges: Crimes involving handguns, firearms, or acts that would be considered violent if committed by an adult.
2. Serious Felonies: Carjacking, robbery, burglary, and serious assault.
3. Sexual Offenses: Third-degree sexual offenses.
4. Pre-Trial Release Condition: Used for individuals deemed high-risk or as a condition of probation/home detention.

+1.
He is on the Montgomery County Council, not City of Rockville council.
And therefore he has much more control over the fate of Wootton. Glass voted with Friedson on all this but Friedson was the leader. Among the executive candidates, only Jawando has consistently recognized that we need to raise money to fund school construction.
Let's see, all three will make an appearance at Wootton?

Good for them. Contact delegates. Get those politicians to do something meaningful.
