He spends a lot of time gathering this data, but he gives it away and doesn't seem to be selling anything. Other than giving data as promotion of a particular league what other purpose does he gain by continuing? He has to be backed somehow by ECNL, right?
I'm sure peddles "recruiting services" trying to convince players that only he can get you into a top school.
I don’t think they do. I’ve never seen an advertisement.
I believe last year someone said that he was an ECNL coach. If this is the case he's just trying to protect his job. Which most likely is the worst ECNL team possible and has no chance at D1 players.
I saw the same thing that they were an ECNL coach, but I disagree with your second point. They just might be really invested in the recruiting process and highlighting facts that are relevant to them.
My experience is that top ECNL coaches tend to back their club before the league. My experience has also been that the worst ECNL coaches tend to be the ones with the full ECNL kit including headband and bumper sticker. I put IMYS guy in the 2nd category.

Will be interesting to see how the 2026 Jeff Cup goes next month. Will this trend continue? How might the age shift alter this for rising U14?
Ok SYC 2013 Dad. Have fun in the 4th bracket of Jeff Cup:
Top bracket: 1 GA, 7 ECNL
2nd: 5 ECNL, 1 GA, 1 Aspire
3rd: 4 ENCL, 4 GA
4th: 6 ECNL, 2 GA
On the west coast we have Surf Cup run by San Diego Surf. They definitely seed brackets in their and ECNL clubs favor.
You know what you're getting into before signing up if you're not in the inner circle.
