I also checked my iron and ferritin, but those were normal. I was taking a medication for migraines which many users on Reddit experienced hair loss. I stopped that medication. I eat once a day and feel great. I don't know if calorie deficit is a factor. I lost a lot of hair!

What was the migraine med and how often were you taking it? I use Imitrex a few times per month.

I'm the person that originally posted. I take Imitrex (also known as Sumatriptan) when migraines strike. The triptan medications do not cause hair loss from what I've read and my personal experience (I've taken them for 15+ years). The drugs that can cause hair loss, according to reviews, not listed side effects (but these are new drugs so more side effects may be added later) are the CGRP blockers. The CGRP blockers are used to prevent migraines in patients who have chronic migraines (more than 10+ per month). Examples include Emgality, Aimovig, and Ajovy (these are all monthly shots/injectibles). I did not have hair loss while on Emgality. However, I'm now taking Qulipta (30 mg tablets) and it's helping to prevent migraines, but I've experienced quite a bit of hair loss. Once again, my Vitamin D level is only 11, so I'm working on increasing that and I'm also 58 years old, so it can also be age related.

Thank you for the response. I’ve been on Imitrex since 1995 and luckily, haven’t had to try the other meds.
