What if there is a fire or other issue? The camp owners have shown their lack of emergency plan or any critical thinking skills.


My guess is after last summer, Mystic will be the safest camp in the country.


I doubt it. I worked in a camp that had a life threatening accident due to negligence. I was there the following summer and was horrified by the lack of safety awareness. I think people who don’t take safety seriously don’t change.

As a parent , no way could I ever consider sending my kid to this camp.

PSA if you are sending your kid to sleep away camp this summer, ask for a copy of their emergency protocols and ask about the training they provide counselors and campers. Even if the camp is an accredited camp, ask and read and ask questions.

While I am sure there are a contingent of MAGA types there, I don't think it's entirely like that. I know of, through friends of friends, a number of moms who are lawyers and doctors who are not MAGA who have sent their kids there in the past.

These are parents who would literally laugh about refugees drowning in the Rio Grande or Palestinian children getting shot by Israeli snipers. Should we really feel any pity at all for them? Their children will grow up and become just like them.
