Swim should get to use the board, and swim in facilities with one for post-season meets.
A parent shouldn't have to wait 30 min to see "maybe" a post on the wall. I've been to 5 years of high school dual meets and never seen one. Many races are within milliseconds.
The ADs should figure out what needs to happen to make it happen.
Those are run by volunteers.
What are run by volunteers? Basketball scoreboards? Then add them to the volunteer lists for districts and regionals.

Anonymous wrote:Not using the big board has nothing to do with saving money. At a club meet at Oakmont in Nov, the meet started on time using only the small, crummy scoreboard. At some point during the meet one of the meet organizers got the big board up and running.
If VHSL doesn't have the one tech person that knows how to get the big board connected, the big board won't work.
The complaints on this board are embarrassing. If they post the results in the lobby, you get all the information you need, clear as day, the same way meets worked for 50+ years. And you're upset because you didn't get the information fast enough? Call the waaahmbulance.

I’ll ask what the issue was, but I believe nobody on the Oakmont staff at the time knew how to operate it. Not 100% sure on that. Again, I’ll check and add a reply.
Me again. For the District meet they spent at least an hour trying to get it to work. These are people who have knowledge about how to typically run a scoreboard. They asked the staff at Oakmont and nobody, including the aquatics manager, knew how to operate it. They even called the person who got it to work for the club Swim and Rock meet and that person basically said they tried and tried and finally got it to work, but they didn’t know what they did that finally worked.
It wasn’t a conscious decision to just not use the scoreboard.
We were at Swim and Rock in November and that Board worked only part of the time and the rest of the time, we were like ho hum we will see results when Meet Mobile is up and we need to pay attention to not miss our swimmer. There is something wrong with that scoreboard.
