Postal codes are not the same as abbreviations. One could say the abbreviation for Virginia Tech is Va. Tech.
UConn, UMass, UDel, and Ole Miss use the old-style postal codes.

Although to be fair, there are so many M states that using the state abbreviations instead of just M is much better.
Except for Michigan, who uses UM or UofM.
