Im so over the dining scene almsot everywhere in the US. I just saw the menu at a smaller cafe bread place in PG. They want $26 for a personal size pepperoni pizza. A sausage pizza is $29. A pizza dinner is now going to run $100+ after taxes, tipping, drinks.

I'm done with dining out. The US is a massive ripoff.

Kafe Leopold in Georgetown.

Unconventional Diner on 9th.

Sfoglina downtown and Van Ness both offer a 3-course lunch for $28 that is really good.

If you’re old enough to remember the smaller, original location, it was definitely about the food and it was so good. Then it moved to the larger location with the huge terrace bar and was totally taken over by happy hour drinkers which was kind of sad. I still went there for the lomo saltado but it wasn’t really the same.
There was also a really good Indonesian place that was right near that original location.

There are places in the suburbs that meet OP’s criteria but I agree it’s getting tougher to find.

Chef Geoff's is so bad. I think it only survives because there are older people who live in the nearby townhouse community. Al Dente is OK but way more expensive than it should be for the quality of food.

Admittedly I haven't been in years but what's wrong with Chef Geoff's? Sure, there's nothing avant-garde or revolutionary about it but IMO it has always been solid and reasonably priced.

Honestly the only thing I can really fault it for is pricing the HH giant mug at the same price as 2 pints. Where's my volume discount?!
