U. Tampa has a huge Latino population and it’s common to hear Spanish all over campus. There is a decent sized Afro-Caribbean cohort as well, and a mix of just everyone else too.

It’s a serious learning environment but also a fun place to go to school.

Florida resident here. You’re confusing USF (located in Tampa) with the University of Tampa. U Tampa is overwhelmingly white (lots from NY/NJ) with very few Hispanics or Blacks.

They should really rename USF as it's nowhere near South Florida.

+1. All the Florida state universities should be renamed using the UC model. I.e., USF should be UF-Tampa, FIU should be UF-Miami, UCF should be UF-Orlando. Unfortunately the jerks at UF-Gainesville will never allow it.

YES! Like this poster doesn’t even have enough self control to ignore.

I had a child go to UF. It was very academic and they got a very good education and came out prepared. Academically it was very intense. It does have a very strong Greek life which initially made it hard to meet people not in sororities. I didn’t like the campus. The street that runs through it is very dangerous. We had an issue with mold in the dorms that was a real turn off.

Another child went to FSU. That campus is much more beautiful and manicured. Not nearly as intense academically compared to UF (although some of that may be a difference in majors). My kid did exceptionally well and didn’t study much.

There is indeed a huge Long-Island / NJ contingent.

UCF has a huge enrollment, but it’s extremely well designed (buildings in concentric circles) so it is much more manageable than other large universities. Kind of feels like it is run by Disney people: it is clean, well organized, & friendly.

Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton seems like a country club. Plush facilities & relaxing atmosphere.

USF is nice but pretty standard. Nothing jumped out at us except the friendliness of the people.
