No, Yale offers interviews when they need more info. If they have enough to decide in either direction, they don't need an interview.

Nope. They are definitely going to be accepted. Able to register for bulldog days. Receives accepted student T-shirt early etc.

One of dd’s friends got a Yale likely a cycle or two ago. Friend was URM/FG. She was a spectacular kid with great grades, leadership, and ecs. Not STEM. Got into every Ivy and did wind up chosing Yale.

The ones I know of were also Asian and from NYC/Boston. Strangely these kids did not get into MIT or Harvard or any other elite school, so not sure that it is recruitment, although I used to think it was.

The vast majority of YES scholars (STEM likelies) have acceptances to at least one of Yale’s peer schools (HPSM). But for one of DC’s classmate, Yale was the sole T20 acceptance. It is a recruitment strategy.

Yale only sends likely letters to RD applicants. I think recruited athletes also get likely letters (as SCEA applicants)

The Ivy League schools have an agreement for RD that they all release decisions on the same day. So they utilize likely letters instead of “early writes” (Amherst and SLACS send early notification of admission in the RD round)
