My DD loves Hidden Meadows in WVa. This year will be her 4th year going. Its a good balance of outdoorsy without being to outdoorsy. She also did Girl Scout camp when she was younger and had not great experiences. The PP who talked about the crushing amount of rules is totally spot on!

My kid has loved Sandy Hill.

7 weeks might be jumping in the deep end, since it sounds like OP has never sent her kids to sleepaway camp before.

It looks like there's a 4 week option for first time campers. I like the look of it but 7 weeks seems like a long time away. If you want to do a family trip also, this really seems like it compresses the summer. Any parents of 7 week campers out there that address that concern? We're a few years away still but starting to think about the options.

I went in the 90's, so it wasn't that fancy then- but we did a professional level musical production which was really fun..and we did have electricity. The OP did not give any requirements that the camp should not have nice facilities or electicity either.

Camp Letts is a traditional sleepaway camp, about an hour away, and you can do one week or many weeks. Also, because it's a YMCA camp, it's reasonably priced (for sleepaway).
