You know how a many who wears dress shoes without socks with a suit would look dumb? Same thing.
Nude or black stockings with your LBD.
PS - I think women should poll their husbands. I bet most men prefer women to wear them.
Maybe if you have fat lumpy legs. I NEVER wear pantyhose. I have really nice legs.
This is the only exception to the hosiery rule. "If" you have nice legs, you can do what you want! If you don't, please be aware that there is quality fine denier hose out there that will make you look as if you have nice legs. Quality hose is expensive! You can also wear make-up/self-tanner on your legs.

Those wouldn't work for a formal event

Anonymous wrote:No--go bare legged and look ridiculous. You wouldn't wear tights or sheers in the summer, so why try to do summer in freezing February?

In my experience, pantyhose are quite a bit warmer than nothing on your legs. Have you ever tried wearing them in winter? Tights are okay but black is not going to go with all skirts and dresses, particularly for those for whom black is not a flattering color.
Also, not every woman is built to look good in pants; they are often ill-fitting and uncomfortable on women with much smaller waists than hips. I don't see socially banning pantyhose and forcing women into pants for warmth as progress.
Anonymous wrote:I had an event Saturday night and wore sheer pantyhose. It (1) kept my legs warmer than if they were bare and (2) hid my dry winter skin. Win-win.
