Using the word "important" in this context is a sign that you have no clue. Schools are not "important." You sound like the same type of person who is jealous of people who belong to "important" country clubs. Where's the old striver thread when you need it.

The area surrounding the Hopkins campus is beautiful and very safe.

Yes, Charles Village is very nice, but it is a city location. And while Baltimore has many charms ( see what I did there) it has many challenges as well. Kids who grew up in Philly, NYC, or DC proper would generally not bat an eyelash. If your idea of an urban environment is Vienna, VA, Hopkins, or MICA or UMD Law might be a bit of an adjustment.

Not top 10. Because it isn't better than Ivies, Duke, MIT or Cal Tech. So that is already 11. I could argue with you about a few others as well but those are non-negotiable. I would personally choose Vandy or Northwestern over Hopkins but those two are definitely subject to debate and I wouldn't die on that hill.

Has a 5% acceptance rate and 1550 median SAT with 3.95 average GPA. With it going test required, it will get even harder. Most aren't getting in so leads to a lot of bitterness instate on a DMV forum. Hence the shit talk.

It is not top 10. Perhaps USN&WR ranks it as such, but it is not. It is definitely top 20. Maybe even top 15. Which is still great.

To that point, I think it has an "Ivy backup" complex. And again, there is absolutely no shame in that. But not a lot of people aspire to go there. It is more like "I'm super risk averse and don't think I can make an Ivy so I will ED to JHU."

I know someone in their early 40s who was not pre-med and is a very nice, fun, interesting person who had a great experience there and has gone on to do very well. So the "grinder Asian pre-med" stereotype is not totally accurate. But it is not based on nothing.

JHU hates TJ kids for some reason. Very few, if any, are accepted.
