They walk to NY Ave or FL Ave depending on age.
They have staff scout it out ahead of the first recess time to check for sketchy activity. I think I'm my children's 5 years at the school they skipped the park a couple times for that, very very rarely.
If you're okay with some aspects of urban life, it's actually not as bad as I had feared.

The 2 playgrounds above, kids can easily walk to. It’s close and both are great. Why spend the money on another playground when there is 2 so close and accessible?

From the link, they are prioritizing outdoor learning classroom and expanding the community garden which I think is pretty great. Imagine being able to have actual classrooms outside and teach lessons there. Or doing community meetings outside or art class outside. Their gardening program is also great. My kid learned to plant, harvest, toil and they incorporate cooking in their specials. Kids make lots of yummy stuff and they love it.

They might not have what you think of a playground but they are going to have nature center play spaces.




Also their new in house kitchen is amazing. The lunch is really good and lots of kids told their parents they wanted to buy lunch. This was a total game changer for some families I know with both working parents not having to make lunch in am and feeling good that their kid was getting a delicious meal.

The expanded community garden is going to make that even better if they plan to use what they harvest in the kitchen.

You can have both! We had a great experience at MV and now at DCI.

Going back post Covid was rough and we had some turnover but that was everywhere and expected.

Nothing at MV8 until maybe 3rd where kids had I think 30 or 40 minutes of individualized instruction time on some adaptable program.

It’s definitely not screen centered at all.
