A $400 “wool” coat that’s only 30% wool is easier to X online than physically doing that

Exactly. My harsh opinion is that people who can't deal with online shopping have poor reasoning and processing skills. There is a process to searching with the right keywords and using the right filters to find what you want.

I no longer shop there. They charge for returns too. Who does that?

Haven't paid for a return in years. I return for free at Whole Foods. I love Amazon, and know how to shop and read reviews so I don't get crap.

I don’t buy clothes there at all. The items I bought previously are total junk.

I just ordered jeans from Quince, they had all of these glowing reviews! Couldn’t even zip them up after spending all this time reading about sizes. Gave up and bought another brand that I already own.

I wish clothing stores would go away with organizing by designer. Organize by type of item. I get so tired of searching for dress pants. Just put them all in one place. That’s what makes online shopping preferable for me.

What’s so confusing about department stores specifically is that they have a “dress” and “coat” section however general clothes are a big nope

Nordstrom Rack is trash. Half a step above TJ Maxx. If that.

Nordstrom Rack is actually a great place to score a good name quality pair of dress slacks (hopefully not spandex, good material and possibly lined). But the key word is score. You have to be lucky to check all those boxes and in your size and they are flattering!

I don't buy much at all but I absolutely love browsing online. I'd rather look through the The Real Real than social media these days. It feels peaceful, plus it's all used so doesn't feel as bad in terms of consumerism. I just heart a bunch of stuff but only order every few months. Also love reading about perfume and buying little samples to test them out. It makes me happy and I find it soothing.

WTF?

It's a legitimate question. If you don't need or like to shop because you're at a period in your life where this is not fulfilling, OP and others should have the self-awareness to say so, and that would be perfectly acceptable. I've gone through such periods myself.

But blaming it on boring stores or too much variety online is disingenuous. That's not the real reason.

Wow. You are certainly welcome to enjoy online shopping but your mean and rude comment says a lot about you as a person.

OP, I agree with you. I do order online, but only stores I am familiar with and can return in person to. But I also don't need that many new clothes as I am 45 and have a full wardrobe, so it's just filling in as needed.

PP you replied. I didn't mean to be rude. I just can't understand why online shopping would pose a problem for functional people. It's been around for a while now... I'm 45 too, and don't need a lot, but I enjoy the experience of online shopping. I hated going into stores so much as a kid and young adult. The fluorescent lighting gave me headaches, trying stuff on in dressing rooms was such a hassle, etc.

There's so much on the internet in terms of tutorials and help with clothes, accessories and make-up. I look at make-up tutorials to find what's best for my face, because even though I don't use make-up often, when I do, I want it to look great. The old way of going to a make-up counter and asking the ladies there never worked for me: they always caked on too much and recommended stuff I didn't like.

I'm half white, half east Asian and prefer Japanese and Korean Asian beauty styles. The internet has been a life-saver for me, because I can access Asian looks just as easily as western ones without needing to buy a plane ticket, like I used to.
