Interesting. Sonde is an internist and a DABVLM, which appears to be a certificate type thing, and not an actual vascular surgeon.

She appears to have great reviews, but I was told to specifically go to a vascular by a dermatologist.

Oh yes. DH was thin, long time runner, nonsmoker, light drinker.

DH just went to an excellent doctor suggested by our concierge PCP. She chose a combination of methods. He had it in both legs. They did one at a time. Don't recall all details but I took him to visits. Some were injections, some were radio frequency I think. He went back for checkups and additional treatments for a couple of years.
Seems ok now. He is the one mentioned above with the hideous varicose and DVT as well as insufficiency. Who knew...

It was Dr. Sonde. Would go to her again.

What are the chances the blood just keeps rerouting?

I’ve had venous insufficiency since the birth of my third kid. It’s slowly getting worse. Extremely bulgy behind my knees, but I fear removing the vein will just result in my body doing this again elsewhere in my leg.

This is not scamming. chronic Venus insufficiency is a real thing and it can cause a lot of problems if it gets bad. I actually had tons of swelling and tingling in my legs. The treatment was absolutely worth it.

^ I was probably 5 and I remember a neighbor holding a towel on it while she was sitting on the kitchen floor. I don’t remember much else - but can picture the floor tiles and being terrified.

I’ll have to ask her about it when I see her next! She’s 82 now and moves great, like someone in her 60.

Omg!! That was me. It was in the 70s. She had them stripped - pre-laser. Then when I was an adult recall her getting the laser treatment on a leg. She was a nurse and on her feet a lot.

I have no pain whatsoever but they are huge. It is genetic. My family members have also had these addressed.

I’ve had it done 4 times (three times in one leg and once in the other). I’m curious about the later that says fix the inside. I’d agree, but it is reflux in a valve in the groin. How do they fix that? Also, why would a cardiologist say to leave it?

The leg I’ve had done 3x just seems to keep rerouting and each new vein/branch becomes insufficient. I’ve been good now for about 3 years and doubt I would do it again.

Insurance has paid each time. They do ultrasounds and send the evidence. I can’t remember my out of pocket but I think it was less than $1000.

Not only did you belive that story you ran out and paid $2500 to a vein clinic? Lol lol I have some swamp land I want to sell you!

I wasn't the poster that posted about their mother's vein bursting, but this happened to my mom when she nicked hers with a razor. Massive amounts of blood and she had to go to the ER.

I wonder if the people who are so negative have actual experience with varicose veins and/or venous insufficiency. This isn't just cosmetic.
