I have a boy with an alternate spelling of this name that is rooted in a different culture. It sometimes gets misspelled but so what. In my biased opinion its a great name. Not super common, but also not obscure.

I really like it. It is in the narrow category of names that are approachable but still not overly common and played out. Hard balance to strike. Go for it

100% on all this

A friend used this name recently and I always have to thinking for a second if it’s “Kieran” or “Kiernan” with two Ns. It’s cute though!

I think it’s a great name and I don’t think you need to be Irish to use it. I don’t think pronunciation will be a problem, but I do agree that spelling will be an issue.

Is it Keer ran or Kai ran or Kay ran?
It will get spelled wrong.

I have a Kieran! No one really messes up the spelling. Totally fits him. He's a sweet, sporty, funny guy. We love it!

I like the name, most kids I knew growing up who had this name were called Kerry - pronounced like carey grant

I like it. I think if you both are excited about it, it's a no brainer. As an Irish American, sure this is an Irish name but it's pretty mainstream, and I don't think you need to be Irish to use it. It's not like someone with no connection naming their kid Siobhan or Saoirse or Padraig or something.

I know several little boys with this name. There’s no reason to avoid it if you love the name.

I like it. We're of Irish descent, and there are several in our circle of family and friends.

Caveats: It sounds a bit feminine. And it lends itself to nicknames that are kind of a tease -- Karen, Kiki, etc.

It does often get misspelled.
