Make sure to tour level B1 in big department stores. The Shinsaegye (main location or Gamgnam), Lotte, Hyundai department stores have really nice selection of foods from all over the world. They bring the best and most trendiest. It’s fun to walk around and see the offerings.

I think it’s Dongdaemun Doota Mall. Huge building full of stalls selling clothes, originally geared toward wholesale but nowadays probably more retail oriented

Daiso is very cheap and some things are great value.
Lots of cute socks. Lots of old American brands have brand presence there (mostly fashion) which we found very amusing (Kodak, Discovery, Lee Jeans) and might make good souvenirs.
for some reason, the National Geographic brand is big there. I bought a NG phone case there. It's a great case.

textile quality in Korea (made in Korea) is better.

The Kyobo Book Centre in Seoul is fabulous--so many gorgeous books, lots of stationery, pens, paper, planners, stickers, cute little gifts ... I spent hours and hours there!

I know this sounds strange, but Korean Starbucks stores sell extremely cute Korea-only merchandise if you are into that sort of thing.
