The anti-Janeese trolls are very vocal here, but not so much from people who have met her. If you are actually open minded, I suggest meeting her. She's such an upgrade from the usual green team cronyism like what you get from Bowser. McDuffie seems like the next round of Bowser, so no thanks.

Just because people don't like your candidate doesn't make them trolls. I've been a constituent of hers for a long time. She is pretty unpopular among her constituents (she wins because she never has a credible challenger). She's extremely dogmatic, condescending, unwilling to cross any special interest groups on the left. If you want education policy in Washington DC decided by the teachers union, she's your candidate. I can't even imagine her as mayor. She's be just terrible.

+1 Ward 4 resident here; I've met her several times. She's Brandon Todd in an AOC mask she bought off Temu, and the only thing worse than having her as my councilmember is being astroturfed by her staff on social media channels.

She'll probably win, and maybe we can get decent Ward 4 representation when she's left to be Mayor, but I doubt it.

Nice try troll. I've lived in Ward 4 for over a decade now and am definitely not on her staff. You sound like you're projecting about astroturfing. Good luck with the hating. It really has no reach beyond your dcum buddies.

Who else is there? Vincent Orange? Gary Goodweather? Do you consider either of them to be viable candidates?

I would love for Randy Clarke to be our next mayor but it’s unlikely he run will and even if he did, he’d probably have a hard time beating JLG and McDuffie.

So for all practical purposes it’s JLG vs. McDuffie.

No one can win a mayoral election in DC without the support of the teacher’s union. Fenty being the best example of that, but also see the 2022 election when Bowser and R White were falling over themselves to promise never-ending remote learning in order to win the WTU endorsement.

This is not correct. Bowser tried to reopen schools in August 2020. The union went bananas and the city council refused to back Bowser. No one in the entire DC government tried harder than JLG to make remote learning go on forever. Even after DCPS finally, finally reopened, JLG was pushing legislation that would force it to close again until it met some impossible standard. I find it amazing that any parent could support JLG after that. She was unapologetic about keeping kids out of school, even when virtually every other school district in the country had reopened.

This is why I will also not be voting for R White. Also why my kids now go to private school so it doesn't bother me that McDuffie's do too.

A prosecutor for juveniles where she intentionally sought "restorative" approaches like writing an apology letter — for violent teens who went on to reoffend. The catch and release approach for really serious juvenile crime like carjackings, muggings at gunpoint, beatings etc is how we got into this mess.

He's not exciting, but I think he will be a good Mayor. She hasn't done ANYTHING that would give me confidence that she could run DC.

She is my councilmember and she's been terrible. The rumor is that her office is an absolute mess.

Kenyan is an embarrassment. He couldn’t even figure out if he was eligible for the AG role and has flip flopped his party affiliation back and forth in a desperate effort to find a job. The current administration has been very good for connected interests and this would likely continue under Kenyan. Nobody should have any faith that business generally would flourish.

So maybe she'll build a bunch of bike lanes then?
