I have some land with a simple cabin about a 3 hours drive away. I also have a large, rugged canvas tent in case we need to change location. About 2 years of mountain house meals for a family of four, they last about 30 years. Supplies and kit to sustain for a while. I'm also a hunter (bow, and rifle) and know how to butcher game. Among my firearms I have a 50 BMG sniper rifle (barrett). This thing can amputate limbs at a distance.

Our home is terrible for this and we'll have to flee quickly or we'll be trapped by the roads and have a long long walk to get to open roads.

As wild as it might be, you can use the zombie apocalypse as a basis for an actual emergency plan:

1. How will you communicate, especially if the internet goes down
2. Where should the family gather immediately and then where to head to, what alternate places,
3. Prep bug out bags, what's critical
4. How will you pay for things if the internet is down

I joke with friends about who I'll ask to join my zombie apocalypse army. Certain people have certain useful skills. People get really into it. We're ridiculous but the world kind of sucks right now and I'll take levity wherever I can find it.

I am a woman and think about the zombie apocalypse waaaaaay too often. Of course now it feels like we're veering towards a an actual political apocalypse, so there's that. I'd much prefer to deal with flesh eating zombies.

Our house is set up on a hill and we have a lookout window that DH used to joke would be where he set up shop to watch for zombies. We've also had silly conversations about which of our friends we would want to team up with and whose house would be best to hide out in.

Other than that? No, no actual plans. DH knows I have zero desire to try to live in a post apocalyptic/zombie world.

Haha, our family of 5 has had a joint plan for years, further honed after watching the Last of Us. And we’re always fine tuning our zombie apocalypse team based on who we know with specialized skills.

I'm not too far from Fort Detrick, a large military base so I thought we should go there to be safe. But the consensus of the family is, that Fort Detrick is likely where the zombies will be coming from. So there goes my plan. We are doomed.
