Luden’s sugar free or Halls vitamin C (the citrus mix). Mostly just works as a placebo when they say they can’t go to school for a sore throat.

Ludens is the brand. These do have a throat soothing medicine in them, so they are in the pharmacy, not the candy aisle. My kids love them.

Also, straight honey works well for a little bit.

We do either ludens or honey sticks.

Gargle with Biotene. They also make lozenges now, but I would worry about an 8 year old choking. Just gargle with the liquid.

Just give him a teaspoon of honey two or three times a day. Before school, after, and before bed.
