Acela trains have been cancelled but the regular ones are still running. I think the late afternoon ones are cancelled though

Embrace the extra time in nyc and don’t try to return until Tues. nyc in the snow is great if you don’t have anywhere you have to be.

Yes, as the forecast has shifted into a lot more sleet and freezing rain, along with the very cold temps, it's going to make it very hard for Amtrak to get the tracks safe. Can't just run a single snowplow train each direction.

Probably won't see fully normal operations until Wednesday or Thursday.

Likely you’ll be stuck in NY for a couple extra days so plan accordingly.

I doubt the trains will be happening on Sunday or Monday until later in the day, due to the amount of snow and ice coming.

We have experienced severe delays on Amtrak ( both Acela + regular trains) between NYC + DC when it snowed OP. Our child used to live in NYC and we did the RT about once a month. Lots of nightmare stories to share. Many will groan, but if the trains are cancelled, check out some of the buses...some of them handle snow well.

NYC is supposed to get a foot of snow. Not sure what if they cancel Broadway plays.

Amtrak will not be able to run on Sunday in NE Corridor. Not enough snow plows to keep the line clear.

Get out early Saturday AM or plan on Wednesday.
