Immigrants are detained appearing in court for routine immigration hearings. What else are they supposed to do? They’re appearing regularly as asked.
I did above. Once again, "sure."
Now your turn. Can we agree that ICE going to courthouses where legal immigrants are going through the normal process and yet still being abducted by ICE is proof that they are not only going after illegal immigrants, and that this is bad?
If they are attending hearings and working through the process as the US has asked them to do, why detain them?
No one said a judge is importing illegal aliens, but nice try.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Well, this would highly fact specific. So the judge is engaging in the importation of illegal aliens and conspiring to falsely legalize them, AND is colluding in breaking the laws?

Oh please, poor use of resources ? If they didn’t waste it on this, it would be something else. Biden let in millions and just cut them loose. The pendulum went too far “left.” And now you’re seeing the opposite reaction, which some may see as too far “right”, but it is what people voted for. It was the main issue in the election. I’m sure the next Dem president will reverse and we can repeat the whole process.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Well, this would highly fact specific. It is true that people who have active immigration cases don't get to stop the clock on deportation or whatever, but going after the people who are complying with the requirements of those cases is a poor use of resources if the idea is to prioritize those who present a threat to public safety or national security. 94% of the people currently in detention are coded as presenting 0 threat, but we're paying for-profit corporations millions of dollars to keep them there, while adding to the national debt.

The majority of foreigners in the US are here legally, yet they're being harassed, detained and deported.
We will look back on this time with horror at the rampant xenophobia that was unleashed in 2025-2028.
The detention camps house foreigners (and US citizens) in inhumane conditions. Some of them sleep on the floor, exposed to unpleasant climate conditions. None of them receive adequate medical care. More people have died in ICE detention in 2025 than died under all 4 years of Biden's last term.
These are like the concentration camps of WWII, people. Many Americans may not see it that way right now, but once this President's term is over, and undercover journalists start going into these prisons, you will see how terrible they are.
The most powerful democracy in the world, the one who claims to defend freedom and the civil rights, is putting thousands of innocent people into concentration camps all over the country.
For shame.

I do think they are semi-correct on immigration. The majority of immigrants are here illegally and need to be deported. I would be in favor of pausing immigration and ending birthright citizenship.
I do not support backtracking and denaturalizing citizens who went through the process correctly. ICE is also way too violent. There was no need for them to drive that Hmong man around Minneapolis while he was shirtless in the cold, only to find out that he was a legal citizen.
What do you mean “the majority of immigrants are here illegally”? Where do you get that statistic? There are a number of different statuses that migrants can have and most are not illegal.

Not PP, but it's probably safe to say the majority of immigrants over the last several years are here illegally. For instance, 10 million+ crossed the border under Biden. Not sure how many legal immigrants entered, but i'm guessing the illegal ones vastly outnumbered legal by like 100:1.
https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/08/21/key-findings-about-us-immigrants/
Whoa whoa whoa, your numbers are way off. The "10 million" number is for encounters, but that does not mean entered. That can mean people turned back at the border. That can mean multiple encounters with the same guy. Plus, people come and go, and they didn't stop deportations and removals under Biden. But MAGA and anti-immigrant folks ignore all of that reality and come to the completely wrong conclusion that number of illegals in the country went +10 million under Biden, and that's wrong.
As for 100:1 illegal to legal is WAY out of whack with reality and I have absolutely no idea where you got that idea. If someone out there said it, they need to be shut down. Pew Research (the people from your own paper) say there are roughly 35-37 million LEGAL immigrants, to 10-11 million illegal. So not only is it not 100:1, illegal to legal it's 1:3 illegal to legal.
But that's where we are - in a place where anyone foreign born is (by some) automatically believed to be here illegally, "100:1" even though that's wrong, and for that matter we see it too with anyone US born who is a spanish speaker, or latino, or otherwise person of color.
It's pretty awful to hear that ICE even profiled off duty POLICE OFFICERS accusing them of being here illegally.
