Actually, I wasn't thinking so much about pesticides (although I try to buy local apples, which taste better because they weren't grown to ship, but to eat quickly), as the fact that I can't understand ruining a perfectly fine "fruit experience" by dousing it with sugar, or eating an out-of-season one during the local season.

You should be far more concerned about the processed crap than you are about the food from China. If you avoid a), it is much much easier to then avoid b).

We really need stricter food laws. The food lobbyists are so powerful. I believe every food item should have to say where it is from: grown, processed, & packaged. That includes fresh produce, meat, fish, poultry, dairy products and packaged goods. The average person does not know the food labeling laws and wouldn't know to look on packages, or where to look.

Lots and lots of apple juice is from china, even "organic" stuff. and after the drywall, jewelery, infant formula, etc. incidents, it's amazing to me that we as consumers put up with this sh**.

I eat apples from our local orchard.

I also try to avoid anything made in China, but that eliminates 90% of all items.
