There have been some posts in the past on this board about injection injuries due to misplaced shots. It's hard to tell if it's anxiety or malpractice. The pharmacist at my local Safeway has never placed a shot higher then the middle of my deltoid.

Is it worse than the covid shot? I got fever/aches for a couple days with that one.

I had no reactions at all to my shingles shots and was felled for a few days after Covid shots. It's very individual.

Our pediatrician advised us not to pre-medicate as that seems to be the worst in terms of potential immune-blunting impacts. Obviously you’re not a kid but I’d think the same principles would apply.

Yes. I added in the second response that I didn't take anything before the shot either.

No, I didn't take anything. My mother had shingles 2x and it was awful. I didn't want to take anything at all in order to have as much of an immune response as possible. Not taking Tylenol might have been overly cautious.

My best friend had shingles so bad that it literally wrapped around her torso, her crotch and inside her vagina (this is not a typo). She got covid, and 2 weeks later got shingles (yes, there is a link for women over 50 that you have an increased risk of triggering shingles after recently having covid) and she had not gotten the shingles vaccine. She said it was the worst pain of her entire life (and she has given birth multiple times without meds). She couldn’t wear underwear, leggings or pants for weeks. She could barely even sit down at all. It sounds funny but it wasn’t.

After she got sick, I immediately got the shingles vaccine. I promise you, nerve pain is horrible. Shingles is nerve pain. You don’t want it. Get the vax.

What???? I have had the vaccine and had ZERO reaction either time.

My parents had a rough reaction for the first shot and no problems at all with the second. After watching numerous friends and family get the shingles they were both happy to suffer a day in order to avoid suffering for weeks.

It varies. DH had fever. Aches. Felt awful. But covid never bothered hi.
I had bad aches but better tha DH. But some early covid shots gave me fever and malaise for days.
