Harsh but true. Also losing weight is not the worst way to go.
Give her antidepressants if she is anxious or mean and is giving you a hard time. But not dementia meds since you can’t give both and since they don’t really work anyway.
What you must do, however, is disable her stove and oven (cheaper than someone there 24/7 supervising her) and transition her to cooked meals. You don’t want to be liable for a fire.
Water leaking is another weak point but not as dangerous.
At this point, sadly, the sooner she goes the better for everyone. I would only stick to comfort care.

I have a similar situation.
I’m keeping parent at home for as long as possible. They aren’t motivated to eat, so I make sure one meal a day is prepared and supervised. Cooking the food helps create odors that stimulate the appetite. I also leave snacks out where they can see them, this helps. At least once a day, someone sits with them while they eat. I make sure to buy their favorites, and set up a reminder on their Alexa to “take your meds with food” at pill time every day. They’ve gained 15 lbs in 6 months with these tactics.

There are so many supplements on the market that make claims like this, but they are BS. If it was real, it would be available via prescription and approved by FDA.
My forgetful parent spends thousands on these stupid things and it’s such a waste.

A word of warning about dementia meds is that so much seems to still be unknown and the effects differ on everyone. My dad was put on something to calm him down, it had the opposite effect. For about a two week period he got up in the middle of the night and was extremely agitated, kept trying to get out of their apartment and once he did, he was running through the halls for hours. He got violent too. Their assisted living banned him from public areas. It was exhausting and excruciating for my poor mom. Finally, they got him on something else but it just seems like such a crap shoot of what works and what doesn’t.

The incomplete nature of this thread’s title makes it sound like the author has dementia.
