I know kids don’t know the stats of everyone in their high school, but my kid definitely knew the stats of his 5-6 close friends. Two he knew (discussed it with them) were admitted with lower gpas and sats, one for Econ and one for English. Why is that hard to believe?

DD class of 2023. Full IB diploma, 4.5wgpa and 1350 SAT (if memory serves). Accepted to VT Pamplin. Didn’t apply to JMU.

That is much better than at our FCPS school. I personally know several kids with 3.7/3.8 GPAs and SATs well over 970 who were rejected or waitlisted (never got off).

At My kid’s high school (NoVA public, wealthy area), JMU has a 43% acceptance rate
