I think if your body wants to stay 10lbs heavier than you are, then you are underweight at the -10. BMI is a dumb measurement.

When you're technically a normal weight it is very hard to get your body below it's "set point".
I have weighed 126 since high school. Totally normal weight but not skinny. I've gotten down to 118-120 ONLY when I've been deathly ill with the flu and THEN the (female) compliments come rushing in. "You look amazing!" A friend told me "you should do whatever you were doing last winter, your body looked perfect then." Suffering from covid, but thanks.

You sound skinny fat. Try working out.

Literally 80% are using it for vanity.

For those of you who are having a positive experience, what provider are you using? How much does it cost? Has anyone tried the pill version yet?

Check out Smart BMI calculator. It takes more into account than regular BMI tracker.

Because it doesn't work.

Of course it works. GLPs work by decreasing your appetite.

It's CICO, the same as without a GLP1.

Exercise stimulates natural GLP-1 secretion, but you have to do a lot of it to have a significant impact on your weight.

At least 150+ minutes of aerobic exercise per week and 2 sessions of resistance training, probably more to get the types of weight reduction many people are aiming for.

I will keep micro dosing through perimenopause because otherwise I will put this weight back on. For what it’s worth, the biggest change I noticed was that when I gain a pound or two from a weekend of overindulgence, it’s very easy to take off.

I started at that same BMI and my goal was also to lose 10-15 lbs and then keep it off during perimenopause. It's been a month, I'm down 8 lbs, and I'm reducing the dosage. It's been great, and so far I have not lost strength. (I track my lifts.) The big thing for me has been that I noticed that I was very sensitive to it and did not increase the dose, because I don't want to lose more than I planned on.

Anonymous wrote:I was discussing this with friends this weekend.

3 of us are on GLP-1, I'm considered "thin" and "healthy looking" ... I look like Illona if you need a picture.

All 3 of us are "losing vanity weight" but when we reach our goal weight we will still be "overweight" on the BMI chart.

The 4th person wants to lose 8 lbs. I personally don't think it will work. I'm 25lbs overweight trying to lose 20 and it doesn't just fall off, once you get close to "healthy" weight the body doesn't dump the weight like when you are obese.

IDK maybe it does for others.

Losing 25 lbs and still being considered overweight on the BMI chart is not vanity weight loss.

Yes. No side effects. Only did for eight weeks last May. Weight has stayed off. As noted above, I believe it somehow helped to regulate my a1c levels which had become resistant.

Love to exercise, be active. Never a big eater but the weight crept up. This worked like nothing else ( at least for me).

Losing 25 lbs and still being considered overweight is not vanity weight loss. You should go ahead and use it.

It actually does work. And unless you want to be on a GLP forever you will have to accept that.

Anonymous wrote:Has anyone used the GLP1’s to lose a little vanity weight? I turned 50 and could lose 10-12 pounds. I’m not technically overweight but look better a bit thinner. I’m tempted to try micro dosing. If you did it, where did you get your Rx and how long did it take you?

The only person I know who tried this quit pretty quickly because the side effects (mostly digestive issues, but also skin sensitivity so that it feels like you have a bad sunburn) that are "worth it" if the goal is to get your body to a healthy weight for the first time in ages, are not worth it to lose 8-12 lbs.
