Haha KP for the win. (Still struggles with exec functioning btw)

I've never heard of anyone reclassing in HS. As you stated, most kids repeat 8th grade (private-to-public or public-to-private) and then move on to a HS of their choosing. I don't think you can reclass at the same school. I know someone who tried, and the school wouldn't allow them because the kid was a strong A/B student. They were doing it primarily for sports, so they decided to homeschool him for one year, and then he will re-enter the school system, most likely a private school.

Now it seems common for boys to graduate from HS at 19, almost 20, which is crazy. If you were good, you played up against older guys; you didn't go down to dominate the younger kids.

“Re-classing” is the pig’s lipstick.

I don't know why 9th would be a problem if he doesn't mind changing schools.
I had a very tall, athletic, loquacious child... so never red-shirted but during puberty and HS it really became obvious maybe we should have.
Can you (or anyone) share what makes you think you should have redshirted?
Have a loquacious summer bday boy and redshirting is common amongst his peers. It doesn’t feel right to me, but it’s also hard to look at my still baby faced four year old and project what 14 year old him will need. He’s on the taller side of average, and D1 sports (or sports in general) are not a thing we care much about.
